This is the flier with it's first paint job, I ran out of that color of paint anyways so I might as well repaint it. I'm planning to repaint it the original blue white color.
I started with base coating the top body white and coated over the original painting, I didn't feel like stripping the paint; too much time and too much fumes to get me woozy, even outside with one of those gas masks. The paint I was using was very thin and it didn't work. This is what I got:
So now I'm probably going to do two more layers, plus paint the skids blue.
So now I've got the white base coat and the blue skids. Now we get to go to the fun with painting the details...with old brushes and inconsistent paint.
The blue is added to parts of the wings and that little...what do you call that thing? Stabilizers? Yeah we'll call them stabilizers. Plus a dark blue on the cockpit window. I have to paint the red on little parts of the stabilizer and clean up the mess left by the blue paint and then I'm done.
And now we are done. How does it look everybody? Pretty bad huh? Well I'll admit this isn't my best work, but under the circumstances I think I did pretty well. Overall I spent roughly 20 hours on this project including assembly and what not. The paint I used was Academy paint that probably sat on the shelf for too long because it was either way too thick or way too thin. Except for the blue, the blue was great on this batch.
Anyways I'm really proud of my work, and I really like the transfer from the grimdark green and black of the Warhammer 40K universe, to the fairly happy blue white and red of the Gundam world. I might touch this up later if I have the time, but now I'll let it sit proudly on the shelf along with my other works.
